Cherry is the earliest fruit listed in spring and has the reputation of “first branch of spring fruit”. The earlier it matures, the higher the economic value. Therefore, fruit growers hope that cherries mature as soon as possible and go public. In the production process, we explored a method of “cherry stem digging, cutting and promoting early maturing cultivation,” which not only can ripen cherries earlier, but also increase fruit size, increase sugar content, and increase the market value of cherries. The specific operation method is as follows:
Within two months after the end of the cherry harvest, the main branch of a cherry tree with a diameter of less than 10 cm at the first branching point on the stem of the cherry tree was cut for the cherry trees of the early-maturing and mid-maturing varieties cultivated in the open air. The method is: between the base of the main branch to be excavated and the first branch point, first saw two distances of 5 to 10 centimeters on the upper side of the trunk, and the depth is 1/3 of the branch diameter at the saw mouth. Parallel saw mouth, and the depth of the two kerfs are the same, and then use a wood chisel and a hammer to remove the cortex and wood parts between the two kerfs. The branches above the cut kerf will be sagging due to gravity, and must be prepared in time with the “prepared person”. Support the font struts so that they are in parallel with the ground. Then apply 3 to 5 mm thick boron-zinc sludge (available from chemical stores) on the cut-out. Because the cherry cut wounds recovered after one year, it is necessary to stagger the cut points of the previous year and re-tune them in the same period the following year.
Tests have shown that any cherry tree that has undergone such an excavation can have a flowering time of 7 to 8 days in the second year and 9 to 12 days in the fruit ripening period. Even if it is a mid-maturing variety, its maturation time will be earlier than that of a precocious one that has not been cut.
